New Zunes, New Software, and the Book
Since the publication of the book, Microsoft has unveiled two new Zunes and a totally overhauled version of the Zune software. Although very much of the material in the book is still accurate and applicable, the Zune software screenshots are obviously out of date. Same goes for certain chapters, like the one on podcasts (Zune Marketplace now lets you subscribe to them directly). Will there be an updated edition of the book? I’m discussing that with the publisher at this very moment. In the meantime, I highly recommend heading to ClicZune, Zunerama, and Zune Thoughts for loads of updated Zune news and information.
Got My Copies!
The Zune book lives! I just got my promo copies, and Amazon shows it having a ship date of July 26. I’m really pleased with how it turned out — particularly the “spotlight section” which shows how to copy recorded TV shows to your Zune (one of my very favorite activities). Hope you’ll pick up a copy and share your thoughts, suggestions, and questions here!
Off to the presses!
Well, the book is just wrapping up the proofing stage, after which it’ll be off to the presses. I’m very pleased with the near-finished product and think novice, intermediate and even advanced users will find loads of useful information. Stay tuned!
The End is Near!
A couple chapters left and this book will be off to the presses, hopefully to appear in bookstores by August. Of course, feel free to pre-order it now! 🙂
Calling software developers, accessory makers, etc.
If you have a Zune-related program, accessory or whatever you’d like featured in the book, now’s the time to let me know about it! Send the details to zunebook@gmail.com.
Thanks!
